About us

At Maharlika Bears, basketball is more than just a game—it’s a pathway to confidence, character, and community. We give young players the opportunity to grow into the best version of themselves through high-quality coaching, positive competition, and a whole lot of fun.

Our coaching philosophy is simple and powerful: ONE TEAM. ONE GOAL. We believe basketball is at its best when it’s played together. Success isn’t measured by individual stats, but by effort, trust, and how players uplift one another on and off the court. Every drill, every game, and every huddle reinforces teamwork—sharing the ball, communicating, defending together, and celebrating each other’s progress.

Our coaches create a supportive yet challenging environment where players learn accountability, resilience, and respect. Each athlete is encouraged to give their best, support their teammates, and understand that when one player improves, the entire team gets stronger. Through this team-first approach, we develop not only smarter basketball players, but confident young people who value commitment, unity, and shared success.

Beyond skills and drills, we are committed to shaping well-rounded athletes who live our core values of respect, diligence, and excellence. We teach players how to compete the right way, take pride in their improvement, and carry these lessons beyond the court.

Just as important is our culture. Maharlika Bears is a welcoming, family-oriented community of players and parents united by a genuine love for basketball. Whether your child is new to the game or ready to take the next step, they’ll find encouragement, structure, and a strong sense of belonging here.

Training sessions run every Sunday at Dural Recreation Centre. If you’re passionate about basketball and want your child to learn, grow, and thrive in a positive environment, Maharlika Bears is the place to be.

2026 COASTAL CLASSIC

We couldn’t be prouder of how our U16 and U14 Boys represented us at the 2026 Coastal Classic Tournament. This event continues to be one of the strongest development tournaments on the calendar, and our boys embraced the challenge with maturity well beyond their years.

Across the weekend, both squads competed against a mix of metro and country representative teams and consistently showed what our club values most — effort, resilience, teamwork, and respect for the game. While they may not have worn a rep badge, their approach, intensity, and composure reflected a standard that matches any representative program. They played with pride, backed one another, and refused to take a backward step.

The Coastal Classic was another important step in the journey for these young athletes and a strong reflection of the direction our club continues to move in. We’re proud of our U16 and U14 boys and excited about what lies ahead as they continue to grow, compete, and represent our club with class.

NSW AAU SPRING HARBOUR HOOPFEST

We couldn’t be prouder of our 12s Boys for their outstanding performance at the NSW AAU Spring Harbour Hoopfest, finishing 2nd overall in a highly competitive field.

This group showed exactly what our club stands for — heart, hustle, and togetherness. Every game was played with intensity, selflessness, and belief in one another. They competed for every possession, lifted each other in tough moments, and represented the club with class on and off the court. Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.

This tournament is a glimpse of what’s to come. More events like this are on the horizon in 2026, and we’re excited to keep building these opportunities for our athletes.

If you’re keen to be part of future tournaments, let us know by sending us an email at info@maharlikasports.com.

NAIDOC 2025 (AIS Canberra)

Our teams had an incredible showing at the 2025 NAIDOC Tournament, proudly hosted by the Warriors Basketball Club in collaboration with Basketball ACT. We entered two teams into the competition, and both went undefeated through the round games and semi-finals. It was an exciting and proud moment for our club to see both teams advance all the way to the Finals!

U12 Boys were the CHAMPIONS after a fierce battle against Big Max.

U14 Boys were the RUNNERS UP in a tough run against Shmozzles.

We're already looking forward to next year's NAIDOC Tournament and are aiming to send as many teams as possible. The excitement and success from this year have only fuelled our enthusiasm to come back even stronger!

Summer Season 2024/25

We had an amazing summer season with 16 out of our 19 teams making it to semifinals and 8 of our teams finishing on the podium.
